How to Unlock Hidden Mountain in Where Winds Meet: Requirements and Entry Steps
Start Hidden Mountain by following Yingying's Invitation from Kaifeng through the Golden Escort Agency, Lu Ban Lock, and river journey.
Quick answer
To reach Hidden Mountain, start Yingying’s Invitation in Kaifeng. The quest takes you to the Golden Escort Agency, through its underground mechanisms and a Lu Ban Lock, then into a scripted river journey that leads to Hidden Mountain.
The main route is:
Kaifeng → Yingying’s Invitation → Golden Escort Agency → Lu Ban Lock → river journey → Hidden Mountain
Official material confirms that Hidden Mountain belongs to the Version 2.0 era and continues the main storyline into the Mohist region. The detailed route above is the sequence shared by the three independent walkthrough sources listed below.
If Yingying’s Invitation is unavailable, check your current main-story progress and in-game quest log. Available sources do not establish one universal minimum level or exact required chapter.
Before you start
You need access to Kaifeng and enough story progression for the Hidden Mountain introduction to appear.
Do not rely on a fixed minimum level or chapter number from an older guide. Published sources differ on the precise prerequisite, so use the requirement shown in your current quest log.
Hidden Mountain arrived as part of the game’s 2.0 era. The official developer letter describes a large Mohist-themed region with four main areas, 14 sub-regions, mechanical exploration systems, new bosses, and continued main-story content.
Steps
1. Start Yingying’s Invitation in Kaifeng
Go to Kaifeng and look for Yingying’s Invitation, the quest that begins the normal Hidden Mountain access sequence.
The independent walkthroughs used for this guide place the opening in Kaifeng. Two place it around South Gate Avenue, where the sequence involves information about the Haven and a conversation with Yingying. Follow the current quest marker instead of relying on fixed coordinates.
If the quest does not appear, check your current main-story progress and quest log before treating it as a bug.
2. Follow the route to the Golden Escort Agency
Continue following Yingying’s Invitation. A mechanical bird becomes part of the route and leads toward the Golden Escort Agency.
Once inside, follow the quest through the building and into its hidden underground sections. Use the active quest indicators, investigate marked objects, and activate the mechanisms that open the next areas.
3. Continue through the underground mechanisms
Work through the agency’s underground rooms by following the quest path and interacting with highlighted mechanisms.
The reviewed sources describe hidden passages, levers, and a central chamber. Continue until the story sequence inside the agency reaches the Lu Ban Lock.
If a mechanism does not respond, re-check the current objective and nearby interactable objects rather than assuming an older walkthrough’s interaction order is permanent.
4. Solve the Lu Ban Lock
Complete the Lu Ban Lock using the configuration presented in your game.
This guide does not treat one fixed movement sequence as universal because the presentation or solution may change between builds. Once the lock is solved, continue the quest toward the river.
5. Follow the river journey
The river section is a scripted part of the Hidden Mountain introduction, not simply a direct boat trip. During this section:
- follow the active quest marker;
- speak with marked NPCs when the objective changes;
- complete interactions requested by the current quest;
- continue the crossing sequence until the story lets you proceed.
Some walkthroughs mention repeated crossings, special abilities, dialogue mechanics, or requested supplies. The sources do not justify treating each detail as a universal prerequisite. Follow the prompts in your current game instead of preparing a fixed item or ability in advance.
6. Continue until Hidden Mountain opens
Keep progressing through the river storyline until the quest takes you to Hidden Mountain.
Continue following the introductory objectives after reaching the region. At least one reviewed walkthrough describes additional progression after landfall, so the first moment on shore may not unlock every local exploration function.
Use the active quest and map prompts until the regional navigation required for exploration becomes available.
Common problems and limits
Yingying’s Invitation is not showing up
Check your current main-story progress and quest log. The reviewed sources do not establish one exact chapter requirement for every account.
Do I need a specific level?
This guide does not treat any specific level as a confirmed universal requirement. A recommended preparation level is not necessarily an access requirement.
Where does the quest start?
The source-based route starts in Kaifeng, with two sources placing the opening around South Gate Avenue. Use the in-game marker when the quest becomes available because stable coordinates have not been established.
I was sent back during the river crossing. Did I fail?
Not necessarily. The reviewed walkthroughs describe a scripted sequence that can return the player to shore while the objective advances. Follow the newly displayed objective and speak with marked NPCs.
Do I need Wind Sense, Gift of Gab, or a particular item?
Some walkthroughs describe these mechanics, but this guide does not present them as universal prerequisites. Complete an ability, conversation, or item request only when your current quest asks for it.
Does reaching shore unlock the whole map?
Do not assume landfall is the final step. Continue the active introduction until the map and regional exploration functions you need become available.
Source methodology
The actionable route is included because the same major sequence appears across three independent walkthrough sources. Details that are not sufficiently stable across those sources are deliberately excluded as fixed requirements, including:
- minimum level or exact main-story chapter;
- server restrictions and exact coordinates;
- a permanently fixed Lu Ban Lock input sequence;
- exact number of river attempts;
- whether Wind Sense, Gift of Gab, or requested supplies are universally mandatory;
- the exact point at which every regional exploration feature opens.
